This short film is the culmination of a seven week multimedia and movie-making workshop held at the Camden Creative Studios, Camden, NSW. A diverse cast and crew of approximately thirty people from Sylvanvale Foundation and Macarthur Disability Service pieced together everything from the creative ideas, colourful props, story line and dialogue to create a truly unique film and experience. The emphasis in this project was on participation, experimentation, creativity and ultimately enjoyment. The result is an eclectic combination of ideas, music, and imagery to tell the story of lead character James, who has lost his cat and his journey to be re united with his beloved "Curls". Trivia • No cats were harmed during the making of this short film! • The working title "The Cats Meow" was decided by the group in the very first workshop and evolved from a session of improvisation whereby people pretended to be looking for something. Somehow it became a cat, and the idea and title stuck. • The dream sequence where the devil and the nuns are fighting over the cat was originally meant to be an adaptation from the movie "Sister Act". • The shot where James and Rhonda are standing as a married couple looking for their cat was taken during an impromptu stop off at a church on the way to the studio.
